Girls’ Success Integral to Ontario’s Success | Chamber
October 11, 2022(Toronto – October 11, 2022) – To mark the 10th anniversary of International Day of the Girl, Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) President and CEO, Rocco Rossi, released the following statement:
“Today, we commemorate the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Girl, and call on the Ontario government to implement policies that set girls up for success.
“Women’s participation in the labour market is a precondition to economic recovery and future prosperity, as outlined in our report, The She-Covery Project: Confronting the Gendered Economic Impacts of COVID-19. This starts with supporting the development of critical and in-demand skills at an early age, presenting a wide range of career options, and breaking down barriers to economic opportunity.
“We welcome the government’s recent initiatives to encourage inclusive youth participation in growing sectors, including the skilled trades and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We encourage the government to continue to build upon such initiatives to inspire Ontario’s next generation of leaders and talent.”
