Workforce Development Crucial to Support Economic Growth
April 3, 2024(Toronto – April 3, 2024) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) released the following statement welcoming the new co-chair of its Workforce Development Policy Council:
“I am delighted to welcome Marketa D. Evans as Co-Chair of our Workforce Development Policy Council,” said Daniel Tisch, President and CEO of the OCC. “Marketa brings a wealth of experience in the public and private sectors, with a key focus on addressing complex workforce development challenges. She will be an asset to the Council as we continue to engage with government on files critical to Ontario’s economic resilience.”
The Workforce Development Policy Council works to guide the OCC’s continued policy and advocacy priorities on this file, ensuring the Province makes the necessary investments to support Ontario’s productivity and competitiveness. In 2024-25, ongoing areas of focus include:
- Enabling a robust postsecondary education sector to ensure a thriving workforce of the future.
- Addressing prevailing labour and skills shortages in key economic sectors and regions.
- Fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.
“I very much welcome this exciting and tremendously important opportunity,” said Marketa D. Evans. Developing a strong workforce is central to our work at Ontario’s public colleges. It’s more important than ever to ensure people entering the workforce have the expertise and qualifications that align with employers’ needs in this rapidly evolving economy.
