Ontario Chamber Welcomes OCS Price Changes, But Further Reforms Still Needed
February 17, 2023(TORONTO– February 17, 2023) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s (OCC) Vice President of Policy Daniel Safayeni and Co-Chair of the OCC’s Ontario Cannabis Policy Council (OCPC) released the following statement in reaction to the Ontario Cannabis Store’s margin reduction announced this week:
“This announcement is a welcomed first step to support the viability of the cannabis industry in Canada. The OCPC has advocated for margin reductions and pricing transparency alongside a number of other policy reforms that would help the legal sector compete more effectively against the illegal market, which still represents approximately half of all cannabis sold in Ontario.
“Much more work lies ahead, and we look forward to continuing to work with the OCS, AGCO, and all levels of government on other concrete measures we can take to support the growth of the industry and protect public health.”
