Ontario Chamber Applauds Action to Strengthen Ontario Mining Sector
January 14, 2025(TORONTO – January 14, 2025) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO, Daniel Tisch, released a statement supporting Ontario’s plan to accelerate strategic resource development to drive economic benefits for both Canada and the United States.
“With rich resources and deep industry expertise, Ontario can be a global leader and essential partner to the U.S. at a critical time for supply chain security, trade, and resource development.
“By addressing key challenges—including access to capital, workforce gaps, and regulatory approvals—the Ontario government is taking important steps to ensure sustainable growth in the mining sector. Investments in skilled trades and building Indigenous talent pipelines will unlock economic opportunities while making the industry even more inclusive and resilient.
“We also welcome the streamlining of regulatory processes. Clearer timelines and efficient approvals for infrastructure projects, particularly in the Ring of Fire, will be essential to realize Ontario’s potential.
“The Ontario Chamber looks forward to supporting these efforts through our newly established Mining Council, which brings together industry leaders to shape policy, tackle emerging challenges, and help build a globally competitive and sustainable mining sector in Ontario.”
