July 25, 2023(Toronto / Michigan – July 25, 2023) – The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce (MCC) jointly commend today’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Province of Ontario and the State of Michigan aimed at fostering increased economic collaboration and growth across the border. This agreement represents a significant milestone in advancing the interests of businesses, workers, and communities on both sides of the border.
“What’s good for Ontario is good for Michigan, and what’s good for Michigan is good for Ontario. We commend Premier Doug Ford and Minister Victor Fedeli for their leadership in recognizing the potential of this partnership,” said Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the OCC. “By capitalizing on the diverse strengths of both Ontario and Michigan, this agreement can accelerate economic recovery, attract new investments, and create more resilient supply chains that will benefit businesses and workers alike.”
“As our state and global economy face transformational changes, continued collaboration and partnerships like this are crucial in ensuring we can harness strong, sustainable economic opportunities while meeting challenges,” said Jim Holcomb, President and CEO of the MCC. “We hope this MOU can spur a positive impact on job growth and prosperity in our respective areas and look forward to working with Gov. Whitmer and our Ontario partners on strengthening our shared region.”
“We extend our appreciation to Earl Provost, Ontario Agent General responsible for the mid-west US, for facilitating ongoing collaboration with our organizations and legislators on both sides of the border to help drive this agreement,” added Rossi and Holcomb.
