Ontario’s Business Advocate Calls for a Clear Path for Long-Term Fiscal Prudence
September 21, 2018(Toronto, September 21, 2018) – Today Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) released the following statement in response to Minister Vic Fedeli’s announcement on Ontario’s $15 billion deficit.
“As Ontario’s business advocate, we have long called for fiscal responsibility and government accountability. Today’s numbers are shocking yet predictable and we agree with Minister Fedeli that fiscal accountability is both a fiscal and moral imperative.
“The OCC and its 60,000 members are firm in our belief that Ontario needs a clear path for long-term fiscal prudence if we are to regain our status as an economic leader in Canada. Our goal is to stimulate critical economic activity such as investment, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
“We look forward to working with the Government of Ontario to cut red tape, connect Ontarians to good jobs, and strengthen business competitiveness across the province.”
