Next Steps of Government’s Plan Must Provide Blueprint for Business Recovery
October 4, 2021(Toronto – October 4, 2021) – Today, Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) released the following statement:
“Today’s Speech from the Throne sets the stage for a continued focus on public health with a nod to the government’s approach for economic growth. We believe that prioritizing public health is our best long-term economic strategy and essential to protect Ontarian’s most vulnerable.
“We particularly appreciate the government’s commitment to no new tax hikes or spending cuts, which would only amplify the financial distress faced by households and businesses as we enter a period of economic recovery.
“The next steps in the Ontario government’s plan will be outlined through its 2021 Ontario Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review on November 15. In it, we would like to see concrete measures to support the economy and business community, particularly small businesses disproportionately impacted by the crisis, address labour shortages and skills gaps, confront the climate crisis, and expand child care to ensure a more inclusive recovery and representative labour market.”
