Joseph Stiglitz Kicks Off Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s Ontario Economic Series
August 24, 2020(Toronto, August 24, 2020) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) announced the Ontario Economic Series (OES), a collection of virtual forums covering critical topics of the post-COVID 19 world, connecting leaders with some of the most influential people from across the globe. The series will be hosted virtually during the Fall, launching on September 15 with Nobel Prize Laureate and Former World Bank Chief Economist, Dr. Joseph E. Stiglitz.
“None of us could have imagined the unprecedented challenges presented by a global pandemic in Canada and around the world. There is no one better positioned to kick off the Ontario Economic Series with a discussion on the future of globalization and Canada’s place in the world order than Nobel prize-winning economist, Dr. Joseph Stiglitz,” said Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
In light of the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce redesigned the annual Ontario Economic Summit to the Ontario Economic Series. The series will bring together leaders from different industries, backgrounds and experiences to exchange innovative ideas and generate solutions to critical issues facing our province.
“The road to recovery presents many challenges and opportunities. During this year’s Ontario Economic Series, we will come together virtually with leaders from around the world to explore solutions to rebuild our future and our economy. Inclusivity, collaboration, and the sharing of ideas from around the world will be central to achieving greater prosperity here in Ontario,” added Rossi.
As it has been for nearly 20 years, the 2020 Ontario Economic Series will be the forum for visionary leaders in the public, private, education and not-for-profit sectors to shape Ontario’s future growth and role in the global economy.
