Exploring AI for Economic Growth at Ontario Economic Summit
September 26, 2023(TORONTO – September 26, 2023) – With increased attention on the opportunities and challenges posed by advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is delighted to announce that the 2023 Ontario Economic Summit will feature a panel on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to benefit the economy. The panel will explore the tension between realizing the economic benefits of responsible AI development while guarding against unintended consequences.
“Our captivating panel on the responsible adoption of AI is a can’t miss opportunity to gain valuable insights into harnessing the power of AI for the future economy,” says Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the OCC. “From fostering ongoing innovation and scaling to promoting adoption and commercialization, the panel will discuss the essential elements for creating an environment conducive to AI’s growth and success while exploring the regulatory landscape needed to promote responsible AI deployment.”
The panel, taking place on Thursday, November 2, from 11 – 11:50 a.m., will be moderated by John Ruffolo, Founder and Managing Partner, Maverix Equity Group and feature:

- Raquel Urtasun, Founder and CEO, Waabi
- Tony Gaffney, President and CEO, Vector Institute
- Sam Sebastian, VP and Canada Country Manager, Google
This engaging session will delve into the transformative potential of AI across various sectors, including generative AI, analytics, and health-related applications. The esteemed panelists will share real-world use cases and applications, highlighting the business and social benefits of AI.
