Chamber Reacts to Ontario’s Plan to Stay Open
March 29, 2022(Toronto – March 29, 2022) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce released the following statement in response to the Government of Ontario’s newly announced Plan to Stay Open:
“The pandemic has demonstrated that we cannot have a strong economy without a resilient healthcare sector. Through this plan, the government is taking reasonable steps to bolster pandemic preparedness and address several of our members’ concerns, including labour shortages in the healthcare sector, access to PPE, and increased capacity in our health system. This plan will help foster business confidence and address longstanding issues.”
“Given the evolving nature of the pandemic, we encourage the Province to remain agile in its response and to proactively address threats posed by existing and emerging variants. We would also like to see short-term measures to mitigate potential risks, such as improving access to Health Canada approved COVID-19 therapeutics, testing, and continued emphasis on boosting vaccination rates.”
“The Ontario Chamber of Commerce looks forward to working with the Governments of Ontario on this and other matters important to Ontario business.”
