Statement from Allan O’Dette President & CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce regarding the outcomes of the Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Vancouver
June 21, 2016Toronto ON, June 20, 2016:
“The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is encouraged by the finance ministers’ decision to move ahead with national pension reform. A province-by-province approach would have increased regulatory fragmentation and thus administrative burden. Ontario is doing the right thing by moving away from the ORPP in order to support a coordinated solution.”
“The Government of Ontario showed courage by being an early and enduring advocate of reform. Today’s decision would not have been possible without Ontario’s leadership.”
“The OCC has also been an active voice in the conversation on pension policy. We will continue to work with government to maintain Ontario’s competitiveness.”
