Premier Ford to Address Business Community at Ontario Economic Summit To Drive Economic Agenda

November 5, 2019

(Toronto, November 5, 2019) –  The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) announced that Premier Doug Ford will be attending the sixteenth annual Ontario Economic Summit (OES), “Our Economy. Our Future. Our Ontario.” OES will be hosted in Toronto for the first time in almost a decade at Hotel X and Beanfield Centre from November 13 to 15.

“Our province has some of the hardest-working entrepreneurs and most innovative businesses in the world. Our government is working with business leaders and communities across the province to remove barriers to success and build Ontario’s future together,” said Ontario Premier Doug Ford. “I’m looking forward to continuing these important discussions at this year’s Ontario Economic Summit.”

For the past 16 years, OES has brought together thought leaders from business, labour, academia, the not-for-profit sector, and government to discuss and shape Ontario’s public policy agenda and strengthen Ontario’s economy. OES 2019 will feature interactive presentations, engaging keynotes, and small group discussions that will provide delegates with the opportunity to engage with visionary leaders from the public and private sectors.

“As the global business environment is rapidly changing, Ontario has an unprecedented opportunity to lead in a multitude of sectors. We are well positioned to build a competitive and prosperous economy,” added Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

Some of the key highlights and confirmed speakers include:

  • Premier Doug Ford
  • Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition and NDP
  • Mayor John Tory, City of Toronto
  • Takako Ito, Consul-General of Japan in Toronto
  • Brice de Schieter, Deputy Head of Mission, EU Delegation to Canada
  • Federal election debrief with Vassy Kapelos, Power & Politics, CBC News Network and Perrin Beatty, President and CEO, Canadian Chamber of Commerce
  • Bruce Croxon, Managing Partner, Round13 Capital, TV Co-host, The Disruptors
  • Richard Fisher, Senior Advisor, Investment Bank, Barclay’s
  • David Frum, Senior Editor, The Atlantic
  • W. Brett Wilson, Entrepreneur & Philanthropist

“The summit will bring together leaders from different industries, backgrounds and experiences right here in Toronto – the fastest growing city in the U.S. and Canada – to exchange innovative ideas and generate solutions to critical issues facing our province. Together we will explore opportunities to navigate our unique advantage to confront the new age of business, propelling our economy, our future, and our Ontario for long-term success,” added Rossi.
