Ontario Chamber Responds to U.S. President’s Remarks on Trade
October 24, 2025(TORONTO – October 24, 2025) — The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is responding to last night’s remarks from the U.S. president regarding Ontario’s trade advocacy.
“Considering the president’s national emergencies are rooted in fiction, it’s ironic to see a tantrum provoked by Ontario’s use of facts,” said Daniel Tisch, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
“We agree with Premier Ford that Americans deserve to know the truth about tariffs: they are an act of massive self-harm. They drive up costs, hurt businesses and workers, and weaken the competitiveness of both our economies.
President Reagan wisely knew that win-win partnerships were essential to American prosperity. We have yet to see the same spirit from President Trump.
“While the rhetoric is stressful, at some point we must get past the theatrics — if only because the North American economy depends on it.”
The OCC continues to advocate for policies that strengthen North American trade, investment, and shared prosperity through cooperation and fact-based dialogue.
