Ontario Chamber backs high speed rail, calls for discipline and follow-through
April 1, 2026(TORONTO – April 1, 2026) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO, Daniel Tisch, issued the following statement on the Toronto–Québec City high‑speed rail project:
“The Ontario Chamber of Commerce strongly supports advancing nation‑building infrastructure like the Toronto–Québec City high‑speed rail corridor.
“Canada needs transformation, not timidity, in building the infrastructure that will power productivity and performance.
“This project reflects real demand from businesses, workers, and communities across Ontario and Québec. Fast, reliable, electrified rail would connect more than half of Canada’s economy, reduce travel times, support tourism, expand labour mobility, and strengthen regional growth.
“Getting projects of this scale right requires discipline, consultation, careful planning, and follow‑through. That work is underway and is essential to delivering lasting value.
“The Ontario Chamber is proud to support this project and looks forward to continuing to work with governments and partners to ensure it is delivered successfully and strengthens Canada’s economic competitiveness.”
