Ontario Chamber Welcomes Canada–Ontario Partnership to Accelerate Housing and Infrastructure Delivery
March 31, 2026(TORONTO – March 31, 2026) – The Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO, Daniel Tisch, issued the following statement in response to a new Canada–Ontario partnership to advance housing enabling infrastructure, and major transit projects:
“The Ontario Chamber of Commerce welcomes the Canada–Ontario partnership to build homes and transit at a faster pace and lower cost – following the advice of the business community.
“Cutting development charges and improving tax treatment for new housing will unlock supply, improve affordability and strengthen Ontario’s growth and competitiveness.
“Now, it’s time to execute with faster approvals, predictable multi-year planning and clear accountability. Municipalities also need tools and incentives to move projects forward while maintaining affordability.
“With business confidence under pressure, Ontario cannot afford delays. Better alignment of housing, transit and growth planning will support investment, productivity and stronger communities. The Ontario Chamber looks forward to working with governments to help turn this partnership into real progress.”
