WSIB Announcement Welcome News for Ontario Workers and Businesses
September 26, 2018(Toronto, September 26, 2018) – Today Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) released the following statement in response to the announcement made today by the Government of Ontario and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) regarding the elimination of WSIB’s Insurance Fund’s unfunded liability resulting in a reduction in premium rates for Ontario businesses.
“The OCC and its 60,000 members have long advocated for reducing premiums and creating the right conditions for building a healthy and safe workplace. Today’s announcement is welcome news for workers and businesses in all corners of the province.
“Premiums come out of the pockets of business owners. Today’s news means that this money saved can be better spent on job creation, new technologies and infrastructure, and better, safer workplaces.”
