A strong and predictable business environment is the foundation for economic growth, particularly as Ontario confronts rising protectionism abroad and intensifying global competition for investment. To confront these challenges, the Ontario Chamber has launched the Trade & Competitiveness Policy Council to bring together business, chamber and sector leaders to strengthen Ontario’s ability to attract capital, scale and grow businesses, improve the ease of doing business, and compete across borders.
Building on momentum from the Ontario Business & Trade Leadership Coalition, which convened in the months that followed the implementation of tariffs on Canada, the council provides a longer-term forum to advance discussion, analysis and evidence-based recommendations in support of the OCC’s mission to convene, mobilize, and empower business and local chambers to lead positive change – something no one can achieve alone.
The council is action-oriented and focused on equipping Ontario businesses with the tools, resources, and strategies they need to adapt, diversify and thrive through to an evolving trade landscape.
It is co-chaired by James Scongack, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office, Bruce Power and Chris Conway, Chief Executive Officer, Food and Beverage Ontario and consists of senior leaders from business, industry and trade exposed sectors.
