Competitiveness Must Be the Priority This Election: Ontario Chamber
January 29, 2025(TORONTO – January 29, 2025) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) released Ontario Competes, its strategic priorities for the 2025 provincial election campaign.
Drawing on insights from businesses across Ontario, Ontario Competes offers actionable recommendations to dismantle barriers to business success, solve skills and labour shortages, support healthy communities, and meet both urgent and long-term infrastructure needs.
“Elections are about choices, and in this election, one choice is clear: Ontario’s competitiveness must come first,” said Daniel Tisch, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
“As our governments address the threat of tariffs and trade disruptions, we must turn this moment into something more.
“We must embrace a sustainable growth agenda and strengthen Ontario’s resilience for the long-term. That’s the only way to protect our standard of living – and ensure a bright future for our children. That’s why the Ontario Chamber challenges all leaders, parties and candidates to embrace the non-partisan recommendations we share today.”
Ontario Competes includes the OCC’s top 12 recommendations to achieve the following:
- A competitive business and trade environment
- Qualified people, diverse talent
- Healthy and sustainable communities
- Growth-enabling infrastructure
To ensure the next provincial election addresses the most important issues, we have developed Ontario Competes. Read the full plan.
