Kevin Wyer

As a General Manager with Marriott Hotels, Kevin engages with the largest hotel company in the world.  This allows collaboration and best practice sharing in all markets, both Canada and around the world.

In his 11 years of being in the North, he learned to understand the different offerings in the area and how to market to Southern Ontario, US and to new Canadians.  Managing a golf resort in Cottage country gave Kevin the experience in the leisure market that transitioned well into the northern market.

Having been the Chair of Tourism Sault Ste Marie for more than six years has given him great insight to the industry beyond just hotels; but northern resorts, cultural attractions, and the very powerful indigenous tourism opportunities.  Working with this group closely has given him the exposure to how Government funding works, how to work with municipal government and how to collaborate with other organizations to ensure the overarching goals of Tourism are achieved.

As a Board member of Sault Ste. Marie’s Economic Development Corporation, Kevin was able to learn, support and contribute to many initiatives beyond just tourism, but always with a tourism lens. Having a voice to ensure tourism was always considered in many non-tourism traditional projects helped both Tourism Sault Ste. Marie and the City of Sault Ste Marie change how they approached many city planning processes.
