Victor Dodig Receives Ontario Chamber’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award
November 7, 2025(TORONTO – November 7, 2025) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) announced that Victor Dodig, President and CEO of CIBC, has been awarded the 2025 Ontario Business Achievement Award for Lifetime Achievement. Each year, this award is presented to a businessperson who demonstrates leadership in a particular Ontario industry that has a significant positive impact on the province and beyond.
“Throughout his long career – and particularly in 11 years as CIBC’s CEO – Victor Dodig has proved that strong performance and strong values go hand in hand,” said Daniel Tisch, President and CEO of the OCC. “Victor and his team have transformed their business into a North American growth leader, setting the standard for inclusive and sustainable business. His advocacy for Canada and a more prosperous and inclusive economy makes him an exemplary recipient of this honour.”
Born to immigrant parents in Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood, Victor Dodig began his career as a part-time Customer Service Representative at a local CIBC branch. This early connection to the community shaped his vision to transform CIBC into a client-focused bank with a North American growth platform.
Under his leadership, CIBC achieved record financial results in fiscal 2024 demonstrating a strong contribution to Ontario’s economy. Beyond financial performance, Dodig is a committed advocate for social impact, championing inclusion through the Black North Initiative and Catalyst Canada, chairing Toronto’s 2024 United Way Campaign, and advancing Indigenous economic reconciliation.
Dodig has also represented Canada globally through public service, including as Past Chair of the Business Council of Canada. He retired as President and CEO of CIBC on October 31, 2025, and will continue as a special advisor until April 30, 2026.
“I am incredibly proud to accept this honour on behalf of our entire CIBC Team, who are committed to living our purpose to help make ambitions a reality.” said Dodig.
The 2025 OBAAs air on TLN TV on November 15 and 16, featuring a Lifetime Achievement Award episode celebrating Dodig’s extensive career, his transformative impact on the banking industry, and his enduring commitment to social progress and economic advocacy.
The OBAAs are supported by the OCC’s series presenting partner, CN, and its broadcast partner, TLN Media Group. To learn more about the broadcast and our partners, visit the OBAAs website here.
