Ontario Chamber announces co-chairs of Business and Trade Leadership Coalition

February 12, 2025

(Toronto, ON and Washington, DC – February 12, 2025) – The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) today announced the appointment of two distinguished leaders as co-chairs of its Ontario Business and Trade Leadership Coalition (OBTLC): James Scongack, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Operational Services at Bruce Power, and Chris Conway, CEO of Food & Beverage Ontario.

Established in January, the coalition unites leaders from key trade-dependent sectors to champion business-driven solutions, advocate for effective government policies, and solidify Ontario’s position as a global leader in trade.

“The Ontario Chamber is excited to welcome leaders with complementary expertise as co-chairs of this incredibly diverse coalition,” said Daniel Tisch, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. “Their leadership will help Ontario business and our government partners navigate the immediate threats of U.S. tariffs and rising protectionism, and develop long-term strategies to improve our economic competitiveness and resilience.”

Tisch, Conway and Scongack made the announcement from Washington, DC, where they are part of a delegation of business leaders supporting Ontario’s U.S. advocacy.

James Scongack brings a wealth of experience in the energy sector, having played a pivotal role in advancing Bruce Power’s strategic initiatives and sustainability efforts. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in driving innovation and operational excellence within the organization.

Chris Conway, a seasoned executive in the food and beverage industry, has been a strong advocate for the sector’s growth and development. Under his leadership, Food & Beverage Ontario has championed numerous initiatives to support the industry’s competitiveness and sustainability.

Scongack expressed his enthusiasm for the new role. “I am honored to co-chair the OBTLC and look forward to working with our members to identify solutions  that will strengthen Ontario businesses’ global competitiveness,” he said. “Together, we can create a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.”

Conway added, “It is a privilege to serve as co-chair of the OBTLC. I am committed to supporting our diverse business community as we build consensus on how Ontario can seize new opportunities. Collaboration and innovation will be keys to our success.”
